Abstract

In Power Generation, the transformer is the main component functioning to increase and decrease the voltage according to the needs that will be distributed to the customer. In power plants, step up transformers and step down transformers are generally used. In Steam Power Plants (PLTU), the transformers work continuously 24 hours with maximum load. In this condition, the transformer is required to operate optimally according to its capacity. The occurrence of disturbances in the transformer can cause disturbances in the distribution of power to the load and can even cause the turbines to stop/trip. Therefore, we need to carry out periodic testing and analysis of the transformer. Testing using the Thermography method gives us information on the condition of the transformer. From these data we can conclude that the condition of the transformer and motor is feasible for operation or maintenance is necessary.
