HUBUNGAN DUKUNGAN KELUARGA DENGAN KEPATUHAN MENJALANI DIET PADA PASIEN DIABETES MELITUS DI PUSKESMAS PADANG BULAN MEDAN
Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is increasing from year to year. The high incidence of DM requires optimal management, especially dietary compliance so that the client's quality of life is better. Unhealthy lifestyle, lack of activity, consumption of unhealthy foods can have a negative impact on a person's health condition. This study aims at analyzing the relationship between family support and adherence to diet in patients with diabetes mellitus at the Padang Bulan health center in Medan. This type of research is an analytical survey. The population in this study is all 850 diabetes mellitus patients. The sample in this study is as many as 90 people, with the sampling technique is Accidental Sampling. Data were analyzed using chi square test. The results showed that the majority of families were supportive, adherence to the diabetes mellitus diet was obedient, and there was a relationship between family support and adherence to the diabetes mellitus diet with ρ value (0.000 <0.05), meaning that with family support, adherence to the diabetes mellitus diet became more obedient. . It is recommended for families to continue to monitor, motivate and support patients, as well as in adhering to the Diabetes Mellitus diet, including schedule, amount and type of meal, remind and accompany patients in undergoing the Diabetes Mellitus diet.
