KOMUNIKASI PERAWAT DENGAN MOTIVASI PASIEN MENJALANI PERAWATAN STROKE RSU HERNA MEDAN

Abstract

The non-communicable disease causing disability and death in the world is stroke. One of the causes of reduced motivation to recover a patient is caused by the length of treatment which causes boredom for the patient. With the existence of a good therapeutic communication, it can motivate patients in undergoing stroke treatment. This study aims to examine the relationship between nurse communication and patient motivation to get stroke care at Herna General Hospital Medan. The design of this study is an analysis of the relationship between nurse therapeutic communication and patient motivation. The research subject is an inpatient with a stroke diagnosis and a sample of 30 people, the sampling method is accidental sampling. Data were analyzed using chi square test with < 0.05. The results of the study shows that the nurse's therapeutic communication was sufficient and the patient's motivation in undergoing stroke treatment was moderate. The relationship between therapeutic communication and patient motivation in undergoing stroke treatment shows p value = 0.003, meaning that sufficient therapeutic communication is only able to motivate patients to undergo stroke treatment in the moderate category. It is hoped that the head of the nursing field at Herna General Hospital will evaluate the implementation of nurse therapeutic communication and provide regular training for nurses, and for patients to have high enthusiasm for routine care.
