The patient's family anxiety in patients who are admitted to the hospital, especially in the intensive room, can be caused by fear of death, unsuccessful medication, complications and cost problems. For this reason, nurses must have the ability to apply therapeutic communication techniques to help overcome the patient's family level of anxiety. This study aims at determining the relationship between nurse therapeutic communication and the level of family anxiety of patients in the NICU room at Stela Maris Hospital. This is an analytical survey research, with a sample size of 30 people with the sampling method, namely total sampling using a questionnaire. The results of the study stated that the therapeutic communication variable had a relationship with the level of family anxiety of patients at Stela Maris Hospital Medan, which obtained a significance value (probability) of 0.000 (p <0.05). Psychologically, a nurse is able to be a "medicine" for patients because they are always close to the patient and with the interactions that nurses make in carrying out care services and providing information about the patient's condition can reduce the patient's family level of anxiety. For this reason, nurses should improve therapeutic communication for the patient's family so that good communication will reduce the patient's family anxiety level. For RSIA Stela Maris Medan to better oversee the implementation of nurse therapeutic communication to the families of patients in the NICU room.
